The reality of a moral deficit in our world has become obvious to many that have seen it coming and has awakened many sleepers from their sleep. We turn around and say “what happened?” when it actually took place on our dime.
For years we have let the school systems and our homes be invaded by the little foxes that have now spoiled the vine. The vineyard of Christian morality in America has been eroded from within. The socialist agenda to eradicate the evange

With the heart of Christ burning a desire for others and the reality of my limitations staring me in the face, I was confronted with an obvious reality. I need Christ to fill me. No problem God, just show me where the spiritual gas pump is and I will fill my tank and be on my way. Surely, He knows how much I need to get accomplished.
I had always taken time to read a devotion, glance at a verse, or listen to some teaching, and then take off to save the world

As the reality sunk in that I was a human being with limitations, I could not help but feel a certain degree of helplessness. If I could not help all those I loved, then what would they do? And if my identity was not found in being able to solve all the problems, then how would God’s plan be carried out. And what would happen to all those in need? Looking back, I cannot believe just how arrogant that actually sounded.
I honestly don’t think I intended for it to turn ou

Several years ago at a Bible study, I found myself not engaged at all, when a friend said to me, “Greg, Jesus loves you”. As the rest of the group conversed about that week’s topic, I replied to him, “Shawn, I know He loves me”. He replied once again, “Greg you are not listening to me, Jesus loves you bro”. When he said it to me a third time, I could hear the Spirit of God speak to me the words of Matthew 22:39, “love your neighbor as yourself”. Having my attention, the L

Pandemic of Sin

Easter weekend is now in the books and somehow the idea of potentially contracting an illness continued to be publicized more than the celebration of the resurrection.
As our yards are taking on the fragrance of Spring and the neighborhoods are beginning to blossom with folks enjoying the longer days, life almost has a ring of normalcy to it. We could almost go back into some of the habits from before. Before the pandemic we were (for the most part) God professing, flag fly

While being down for two weeks with Covid, God has caused me to evaluate many things in both life and in ministry. One of the texts HE used was Matthew chapter 8.
In the first 17 verses of Matthew chapter 8, Jesus is healing and interacting with people until the multitude started growing around Him. At that point He gives a command for the disciples to cross with Him to the other side of the sea of Galilee. While they are crossing, a great storm arises, and the boat starts

Psalm 107:1-2 says “O, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.
As I was thinking about what I would like to share with you here I read something that Kristi posted to Facebook in reference to the message yesterday evening. She captured my feelings perfectly and I would like to share that with you now.
My husband mentioned last night in his sermon that w

Philippians 1:6 “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
I never really thought that I would be writing a column in the time-honored church newsletter, but here I am. Of course, I never thought that we would be wearing masks, social distancing, closing businesses, burning down cities or any of the other thousand things that are different in 2020, but here we are.
In uncommon times we are
